The WoF (Warrant of Fitness)
A Warrant of Fitness (WoF) is a periodic safety inspection for cars in New Zealand. It is similar to the MOT in England or the TUV in Germany. The WoF label must be displayed on the inside of the vehicle's front windscreen, on the right-hand side. The punched out circle shows the month the WoF expires. The exact expiry date is shown on the inside of the car. When buying a car make sure it is still valid. To get a new WoF you can go to almost any garage or testing station to have the tests carried out. Do it before the old one expires! If your car fails the test you have to repair it. Once you have fixed all the areas that required attention, the re-inspection is free of charge if you return the vehicle to the same WoF Agent within 28 days of the first inspection. A new WoF is valid for 6 month.
